Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven Broiler Review
Cuisinart is a full-service culinary resource with a wide range of kitchen products to help you “savor the good life.”
They are committed to producing innovative and functional appliances and have won many design awards for their efforts over the past 40 years.
This countertop appliance is a multi-functional oven that fuses classic cooking with modern innovation, something you would want in your kitchen.
Who Is This Product For?
This product is ideal for anyone looking for a new cooking appliance to toast, cook, bake, or broil.
Its multi-functional design means it can do it all.
It could be the ideal cooking appliance for people with smaller kitchens living independently or as a couple. It could even suit a small family.
The space it could save you over a conventional oven could mean that you can fit a dishwasher or washing machine in place of a traditional oven.
Alternatively, it would make the perfect kitchen addition if you’re looking to expand the amount of cooking space you already have for your growing family.
After all, extra cooking space always comes in handy when it comes to achieving your Thanksgiving and Christmas menus.
Still, this product would not be suitable for people that don’t have much countertop space available in their kitchen.
It's a bulky appliance, so it isn't practical to move around and store when not in use, like a food processor or blender would be.
It would also not make the best choice for larger families or households as the only cooking appliance because of its limited cooking space.
When you receive your Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven Broiler, you’ll also get a baking tray, broiling rack, and an oven rack.
You’ll also receive a slide-out removable crumb tray and a free recipe book to help inspire you in the kitchen.
Cuisinart provides a three-year limited warranty on this product to offer peace of mind on the purchase, protecting you from any manufacturer defects.
A product manual is also available on the Cuisinart website.
Overview of the Features
Here are some of the stand-out features you'll enjoy if you get this appliance from Cuisinart:
- Streamline Your Appliances
This countertop oven offers a total of six different functions, including bake, broil, toast, convection bake, convection broil, and warm.
This lets you make much better use out of the space in your kitchen, as this one appliance could take the place of several other appliances.
With 1,800 watts of power, this oven will reheat food quickly, eliminating the need for a microwave.
You can also toast up to six slices of bread at once and choose the precise shade that you want to toast your bread to.
That means you can recycle your old toaster oven, freeing up even more countertop space.
You can also save having to heat up your larger conventional oven (if you have one) for smaller and simpler tasks.
Plus, the convection bake setting will have your pizza ready much quicker than a conventional oven would, as convection baking cooks around 20% faster.
- Compact Design
The oven is relatively compact against other similar appliances we've seen, measuring just 19.1 (L) x 15.5 (W) x 9.8 (H).
Nevertheless, it still has a decent 0.6 cubic-foot capacity.
Despite how compact it looks from the outside, it is still large enough to fit a 12-inch pizza in it, and it can easily handle a whole chicken or a large casserole dish.
It has a traditional-style oven door that pulls down at the front, meaning you can slide it underneath cupboards and still be able to access it easily.
- Easy to Clean
The non-stick interior means it wipes down really easily.
What’s more, having a countertop oven means you don't have to bend down to the floor to clean it thoroughly.
This makes it a truly great option for less mobile and more elderly chefs who may struggle with physically challenging tasks such as these.
Another great feature that makes cleaning easier is the removable crumb tray, which slides out of one side.
Cuisinart has thought of everything to help make cleaning this appliance as easy as possible.
- Simple and Safe to Use
All of the components that come into contact with food are BPA-free, making it totally safe to use.
It’s also effortless to use with just three control dials running down the front on the right-hand side, as well as an LED light to indicate that it’s switched on.
This oven doesn’t have a timer on it, which is a shame because that would be a handy feature.
If any of your other appliances have timers, you can use them instead, or use your smartphone timer like most of us already do.
Aside from its functionalities, it is also a welcome plus that it’s a really sleek looking appliance.
It would look great in any kitchen, whether it be modern or classic country-style.
With an industrial stainless steel finish, available in classic silver, black, or copper, you can choose the color to match your other Cuisinart appliances.
How to Use This Toaster Oven Broiler
As you would read in many other Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven Broiler reviews, this appliance is straightforward to use.
There are just three dials on the front of the device:
- Dial 1 controls the cooking temperature of the oven for the baking and broiling functions
- Dial 2 sets the function or cooking method you wish to use (bake, broil, toast, warm)
- Dial 3 controls your desired toasting shade from light to dark and features an “always-on” setting, which tells the oven to cook until you turn it off manually
There is also a little light on the front of the oven telling you when it is on.
And that’s all there is to it!
Anything else you might need to know, like the different rack positions available, are available to view in the product manual.
The Cuisinart appliance doesn’t have a timer on it, so we found an alternative product that does have one, just in case this feature is particularly important to you.
We chose the Countertop Toaster and Convection Oven from IVY as it was the closest fit.
With an impressive eight functions in one, we thought this oven might do more than the Cuisinart appliance at first.
As it turns out, the extra settings are smart settings for certain types of food, such as cookies and pizza.
So, we think the settings are just more specific, as the Cuisinart can also cook those items.
Smart settings are great if you have the technical capacity to learn how to use them all.
We find the abundance of buttons on the front quite overwhelming, so this wouldn’t be a suitable appliance for any technophobes out there.
The IVY oven measures 22.8 (L) x 13.4 (W) x 15.5 (H), so it also takes up quite a bit more space on your countertop.
You should definitely measure the space under your kitchen cupboards to see if it will fit before buying it.
This toaster oven is also plenty big enough to cook a 12-inch pizza or a whole chicken.
It has an excellent digital display with a 30-minute timer for most shorter cooking tasks. Still, anything longer than that needs to also run on the always-on setting.
Another downside is the price of this model, as it’s double that of the Cuisinart oven.
Is the Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven Broiler Worth It?
Having completed this review, we came to the conclusion that the better appliance overall is the Cuisinart model.
The IVY Convection Toaster Oven is undoubtedly a great pick, but it doesn’t seem to actually do anything that the Cuisinart appliance doesn’t.
Although it does have a digital display, timer function, and smart settings, the Cuisinart model can cook all of the same things that the IVY model can.
We found that the extra features added complications in using it. Even after learning how to use them, they just didn’t warrant the extra money.
The Cuisinart oven is more aesthetically pleasing, space-saving, easier to use, and has excellent customer feedback.
It’s also half the price and comes with a three-year limited warranty from the manufacturer, making it a much wiser investment in the long run.
